Jasper / Waterfall

Athabasca Falls

A powerful waterfall with several formal viewpoints. Stay inside the barriers even when surrounding rocks look dry.

Drive

45–75 minutes · 240 min drive from Banff*

Where to park · how to get there

Use the paved signed falls parking with designated accessible stalls. Do not pull over on the crossing bridge.

When to arrive

Planning target: before 9 am or later afternoon for a short visit. This is a crowd-avoidance suggestion, not a measured fill time or guaranteed space.

Hours & access

Outdoor visit: plan for daylight. There are no staffed opening hours verified here; current closures and signs take priority.

Jasper is a long drive from Banff. The estimate is one-way, before stops, traffic and weather. An overnight stay makes these stops more practical.
