September larches make this a popular, demanding outing from Moraine Lake. Sentinel Pass adds steep, exposed terrain beyond the valley.

Where to park · how to get there

Personal vehicles cannot use Moraine Lake Road. Reserve Parks Canada, a licensed shuttle, or a reserved round-trip Roam Super Pass with Lake Connector access. For Parks Canada, leave the car at the ski resort Park & Ride, not Lake Louise lakeshore. Ordinary Roam tickets do not include the Connector. RVs and oversized vehicles cannot park at Lake Louise lakeshore; use the Park & Ride.

When to arrive

Reserve an early departure. Check trail conditions, bear restrictions and snow before going; turn back early enough for the last shuttle.

Hours & access

Outdoor visit: plan for daylight. There are no staffed opening hours verified here; current closures and signs take priority.

Alpine Start has a different departure point

Sunrise exception: the separately booked Alpine Start shuttle departs Lake Louise lakeshore at 4 am and 5 am, with paid lakeshore parking. It does not depart the ski resort Park & Ride. No accessible Alpine Start service is offered in 2026. Follow your specific ticket’s departure and return instructions.
