Visit the lakeshore or reserve a boat trip toward Spirit Island. Spirit Island is not a road-accessible lookout.
A long journey from Banff: plan Jasper as a separate long day or overnight, not a quick detour.
Where to park · how to get there
Park in the signed Maligne Lake visitor lots at the end of Maligne Lake Road. A cruise reservation does not reserve parking. Accessible spaces are in several lots; some lodge spaces may be gated.
When to arrive
Operator advice: allow 1.5 hours to drive from Jasper and arrive at the lake an hour before the cruise. Banff is much farther away.

Sep 7–Oct 3: operator lists 8:30 am–6:30 pm. Select a specific available sailing.
Jasper is a long drive from Banff. The estimate is one-way, before stops, traffic and weather. An overnight stay makes these stops more practical.
