Jasper / Waterfall

Sunwapta Falls

A short approach brings you to a bridge overlooking the upper falls; longer trails are a separate decision.

Drive

30–60 minutes · 220 min drive from Banff*

Where to park · how to get there

Use the signed paved falls lot off Highway 93. Oversized accessible stalls are present; leave them for eligible vehicles.

When to arrive

Morning or later afternoon is a planning preference; parking occupancy is not live.

Hours & access

Outdoor visit: plan for daylight. There are no staffed opening hours verified here; current closures and signs take priority.

Footing & accessibility

The short path to the bridge descends steeply.

Jasper is a long drive from Banff. The estimate is one-way, before stops, traffic and weather. An overnight stay makes these stops more practical.
